solaire, The game truly has changed
Stunning was the first thing I could think of as soon as I beheld what is only Phase 1 out of 4 for Solaire, the newest casino in the Philippines and undoubtedly one of the best I have ever seen and I have been to Las Vegas and Macau. Beginning with parking at the nine floors of the facility to entering Solaire itself I was awestruck at the level of detail and no expense spared philosophy that went into its creation. Opulence and artistry abound and the modern Filipiniana theme really made me smile as you see homegrown accents such as mother of pearl inlays on pillars, many different artworks by local artists - matter of fact all are local except for one piece by Phillip Stark. I heard that Enrique Razon personally sketched the carpet designs. Solaire is an experience even at this phase, I can't even imagine what it will be like by the time its done.
I have never been a gambler so I checked out the restaurants and bars. Solaire has six restaurants and two bars, no club yet. I am not a foodie so anything impresses me but Red Lantern still needs to get its act together as I found the kitchen service slower than a three legged turtle and the poor people on the front took quite an earful from several irate patrons.
Sadly, I went to Solaire during the day so I couldn't check out the scene. I do imagine that it would be packed but during the day it was mostly families and hardcore gamblers. Eclipse one of the bars looks interesting, it is dark and has tables but isn't enclosed so its more suited to listening to performers on its stage. Dragon Bar looks more like a restaurant and is quite open too but quite bright. Cocktails are well on the pricey side, unless you are a gambler of course. A James Bond style martini will run you P600 so you better really be out to impress your date because you better bring one because you're not going to find one here. Local Beer is P130 at the casual restaurants. In case you're wondering, I didn't see any "walkers" around, the place feels as wholesome as National Bookstore and the ventilation is so good that you can bring the entire family to gawk at the man made sights all over the place. I recommend everyone check this place out at least once. Solaire is world beating, the game has changed.
