Prohibition
Prohibition, a name that clearly honors the era of Taboo Liquor and drinking we lucky chaps only get to experience during election or when watching Boardwalk Empire. I have never been to it until last Monday after Easter which was the eve of Araw ng Kagitingan a Philippine Holiday (quick side note, try to watch this if you want to know more). The next day being a Holiday I was expecting to see hotties filling the bars and clubs like flies to an open jar of honey. I was wrong.
Prohibition is nothing like I thought it would be. Sure they have an unmarked door like the Speaksies of old (ala Blind Pig bar in Makati) but the interior is no Prohibition type saloon. It is more of a modern dance club and your usual suspects alcohol like Johnnie Walker and beer. I was kind of disappointed as the name doesn't make sense and there was as much life in there as Pluto as you can tell from the picture. Maybe it was because it was a Monday but I didn't even see the paid action I hear is always present. I will have to try to give this place a second chance sometime but that night was disappointing.
Dillingers outside was by far more happening albeit with children in their early 20s, whether that is good or bad is up to you. Its far more fun and a bit cheaper and for some reason it seem to attract a lot of expats, visiting foreigners and ISM kids. Matter of fact I remember talking up to a half Brit chick here a couple of years back. I would still say that Dillinger's, Bugsy's are like Piedra before them (same management) are excellent places to meet people. Good food, reasonable prices and R&B music are what sets the stage. However, bringing club music and a lounge next door doesn't really divide the crowd equally, people will always prefer R&B to house as evidenced by how many more people go to Republiq on Friday VS Saturday.
