the hyve - buzzing with bees
Chameleon color changing honeycomb panel on the ceiling
Friday night at Hyve is insane. Packed to the rafters and in my years of hitting bars and clubs in Metro Manila I have never seen so many bottles ordered. The line to get in from the ground floor looked like a Disneyland Amusement Park queue (Enchanted Kingdom queue if you prefer). I remember a patron showing his stamp to the bouncer saying he was going to step out and the bouncer said "you go out, someone gets in" that is how packed Hyve gets.
I guess its called Hyve from the crazy honeycomb like fixture under of have that all the gyrating patrons buzz like bees. I was fortunate enough to come in with a VIP and was spared the agonizing line outside. My tip is to come very early, the Hyve Facebook Page announces a door charge and the place gets packed surprisingly early. Places like Republiq or Opus fill up past midnight (perhaps the distance) but Hyve jampacks like vienna sausage in a can by eleven pm. Go early or suffer waiting outside the building glass doors with the crowd like zombies in your Sunday best - not a joke.
The food is fantastic. Surprisingly, Opus and Republiq have Carlo Miguel but Hyve has Robert Pengson and seriously, Hyve has the best club fare by far. Not that you go there to eat but if you were to order you would get your money's worth.
There are a lot of pretty girls here (look at their Facebook page, they aren't lying), the lines outside are primarily guys. Age group would be 20 to 30 I bet. Young crowd, male to female ratio would be 2:1. A lot of female groups.
The VIP sections are on the side, long couches and tables behind the DJ boot - who sprayed the crowed with a shaken champagne bottle - this place is like Republiq - more crazy and wild. If that is your thing, check it out before the cover charge is implemented and go early.
